Prep Time:
10 mins
Marinade Time:
5 mins
Yield:
2 servings
Ingredients
- 6 frozen Australian abalone (thawed and cleaned)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Fresh parsley (chopped) for garnish
- Lemon wedges (optional)
Instructions
- Thaw and prepare the abalone: Thaw the frozen Australian abalone completely and rinse thoroughly. Pat them dry with paper towels. To tenderize, use a sharp knife to make shallow crisscross cuts on the surface of each abalone
- Heat the pan: In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until the butter melts and starts bubbling
- Sauté garlic: Add minced garlic to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned
- Cook the abalone: Place the abalone in the pan and cook for approximately 1-2 minutes per side, or until lightly golden. Be careful not to overcook, as abalone can become rubbery
- Add soy sauce: Drizzle soy sauce over the abalone and toss them gently in the pan to coat them with the sauce
- Garnish and serve: Remove the abalone from the pan, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve immediately. Add lemon wedges on the side for a zesty touch.
