How To Prepare Steamed Pork Spare Ribs With Black Bean Sauce? 😍😍🌈🌈

  • 400g pork spare ribs 
  • 2 tablespoons black bean sauce 
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry 
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch 
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger 
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced 
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper or ground white pepper 
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil 
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil 
  • 1 teaspoon sugar 


  1. In a large bowl, combine black bean sauce, rice wine (or sherry), cornstarch, grated ginger, minced garlic, ground pepper, cooking oil, sesame oil, and sugar. Mix well to create a marinade.
  2. Add the pork spare ribs to the bowl and toss well to coat the ribs evenly with the marinade.
  3. Transfer the marinated spare ribs and sauce into a shallow heatproof pan that can fit inside a steamer.
  4. Place a steaming rack inside a wok and fill it with water, almost up to the height of the rack. Turn the heat to high and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-high.
  5. Carefully place the pan with the spare ribs onto the steaming rack in the wok. Steam the ribs on medium-high heat for 18-20 minutes, or until the ribs are no longer pink. Ensure that the water level in the wok is maintained throughout the steaming process. Add more water if needed.
  6. Once cooked, remove the pan from the steamer. Serve the Steamed Black Bean Pork Spare Ribs with your favourite selection of side dishes and rice.
