How To Prepare Stuffed Cabbage with Chicken Mince? 😍😍🌈🌈

Ingredients:

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 400g chicken mince
  • 1 cup cooked rice (or quinoa)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 egg (optional for binding)
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or basil) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage. Place the whole head in the boiling water for about 5-7 minutes until the leaves are pliable. Remove and let cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken mince, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, and egg (if using). Mix well.
  3. Once the cabbage is cool enough to handle, gently separate the leaves. Take the largest outer leaves and fill them with the chicken mixture, folding the edges over to encase the filling. Repeat until you have used up the filling.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, tomato paste, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, place the stuffed cabbage in the centre. Pour the sauce over the cabbage, ensuring it’s well covered.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid or foil and bake for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
  7. Carefully remove the stuffed cabbage from the pot. Slice into wedges and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
