How To Prepare Lamb Shawarma? 😍😍🌈🌈

Lamb shawarma is a versatile dish, and you can customize it by adding your favourite toppings and sauces. It makes for a delicious and satisfying meal, perfect for gatherings or a flavourful dinner option.

Preparation Time: 30 mins + marinating time Cooking Time: 15 mins Serving: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds (700g) lamb slices (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread or flatbread
  • Tahini sauce or garlic sauce
  • Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and pickles for garnish
  • Optional toppings: chopped parsley, diced onions, and hot sauce       

      Instructions:  

      1. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground paprika, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper (if using), lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well to make the marinade.
      2. Add the lamb slices to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavours to meld and the lamb to marinate.
      3. Preheat a grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.
      4. If using a grill, thread the marinated lamb slices onto skewers. If using a skillet, add the lamb slices directly to the hot pan.
      5. Cook the lamb slices for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the lamb slices.
      6. Once cooked, remove the lamb slices from the grill or skillet and let them rest for a few minutes. Then, slice the lamb into thin strips.
      7. Warm the pita bread or flatbread in a separate pan or on the grill.
      8. To assemble the lamb shawarma, spread a generous amount of tahini sauce or garlic sauce on the warmed pita bread or flatbread.
      9. Place a portion of the sliced lamb on top of the sauce, and garnish with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and pickles. Add any additional toppings you desire, such as chopped parsley, diced onions, or hot sauce.
      10. Roll up the pita bread or flatbread tightly to enclose the filling. Enjoy!
